마리아 아카소(María Acaso)는 미술 교육 박사이며 현재 스페인 마드리드의 레이나 소피아 미술관에서 교육 부서장으로 근무하며 미술 및 교육에 관한 프로젝트 〈GIRA〉를 개발하고 있다.
María Acaso holds a doctorate in Art Education and is currently head of the Education Department at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, where she is developing the main project on arts and education, GIRA. In 2010, she founded ‘Pedagogías Invisibles Art Collective,’ who have developed a large number of projects working in the cross-field of contemporary art and education in collaboration with art and educational institutions across the country.
마리아 아카소(María Acaso)의 이 발표는 기관 패러다임의 변화가 필요하다는 공감대에서 출발하여, 사적 영역에서의 패러다임 전환을 통해 이러한 변화가 가능함을 제안한다. 일부일처제와 무질서한 관계라는 양극단을 하나의 은유로 활용해, 오랫동안 지속되고 있는 유대와 난잡성, 위계의 억압에 근거하고 있는 미술관의 작동 방식은 무엇인가 살펴보자. 미술관의 활동이 수집, 전시, 공공 프로그램이라는 세 분과로 나누어지며 분과 간의 위계를 신중히 살펴보는 과정에서 교육의 위치는 어디인가. 타자성을 허무는 개념으로 폴 프레시아도가 언급했던 “배제를 끌어안기”라는 용어에 주목한다면, 유대감 형성의 측면에서 미술관이라는 제도적 공간을 다시 상상할 수 있을 것이다.
Enter, But Leave Soon: The Logic of Including Exclusion in Relation to Education Departments in Museums
Departing from the consensus on the urge for a change of the institutional paradigm, this talk explores a proposal for working through this paradigm shift in privacy. Using the metaphor of the opposition between monogamy and relationship anarchy, this talk will analyze ways of working in museums that are based on promiscuity, long-lasting bonds, and the suppression of hierarchies. In making a thoughtful review of the hierarchies that divide museums in three different lobes—collections, exhibitions, and public programs—we will question the position of education within the pre-existing hierarchy. We will also discuss Paul B. Preciado’s term of “including exclusion” for undoing otherness in order to re-imagine the institution as a museum of bonds.
